Spurred by a reading
to write and reflect
Here is one who says
What is the worth
the sense, importance
of doing well
of giving effort, your best
If there have been others
who do not
and end up in positions
of luxury, success?

He is one who deserves
no argument
But one who deserves
my pity, my wishes
of good luck.

Why are you here in the first place?
Is it for a good resume
for good credentials
Maybe so
While each of us has reasons
subject to our pasts and dreams
I myself am reminded
of a great opportunity
a great luxury
at present

While we all have these
heartaches …

“…there is still that us
touched by a spirit..
who choose to genuinely
build communities founded
on justice, to found enterprises
that serve true needs,
to lawyer for the oppressed,
and to doctor for the poor.”
